TROUBLE SHOOTING

Problem

Remedy

The power is not on

•

Connect the AC power cord to a wall outlet securely.

There is no sound

•

Make sure the FUNCTION switch is at the right

position as you want.

•

Adjust the volume.

•

Unplug the headphones when listening through

speakers.

•

Check the speaker cord connections.

•

Press the MUTE button on the REMOTE to make sure

the sound is not muted.

” appears in the display even

when a CD is in place

•

Insert the CD with the label side up.

CD does not play

•

Make sure that the CD compartment is closed.

•

Place the CDs with the label side up.

•

Clean the CDs.

•

Take out the CDs and leave the CD DOOR open

for about an hour to dry moisture condensation.

•

Make sure the FUNCTION switch is at CD position.

•

Clean the CDs, or replace it if the CDs are badly

damaged.

•

Place the player in a location free from vibration.

•

Change the position of the set for better AM reception.

•

Make sure the safety tab on the cassette is in place
(see page 19).

•

Make sure the FUNCTION switch is at TAPE position.

The tape does not erase
completely

•

Clean the erasing head (see page 20).

The tape does not record

•

Make sure the tape is inserted properly.

•

Make sure the safety tab of the cassette is in place.

The sound is weak/The sound

quality is poor

•

Clean the heads, pinch roller and capstan (see page
20).

General

Cassette PLAY button pops up

•

The tape has reached its end. Remove it, flip it to the
other side and re-insert.

VFD display does not light up

•

Press the POWER switch, the VFD display only
lights up when the AC power is ON.

AM sound is weak or has poor

quality

FM is weak

•

Unwrap and stretch out the FM ANTENNA for better

FM reception.

Tape jamming or tangling

•

Use only better quality tapes.

•

Do not use a cassette with more than 90 minutes.

•

Make sure there are no loose layers of tape visible

before inserting the cassette.

CD does not play while radio

may continue to play

•

It is normal since the radio uses less power than the

CD player.
