Attention:

Static

electricity

that

is

released

to

internal

server

components

when

the

server

is

powered-on

might

cause

the

server

to

stop,

which

might

result

in

the

loss

of

data.

To

avoid

this

potential

problem,

always

use

an

electrostatic-discharge

wrist

strap

or

other

grounding

system

when

you

work

inside

the

server

with

the

power

on.

To

install

an

adapter,

complete

the

following

steps:

1.

Read

the

safety

information

that

begins

on

page

v

and

“Installation

guidelines”

on

page

19.

2.

Turn

off

the

server

and

peripheral

devices

and

disconnect

all

external

cables

and

power

cords;

then,

remove

the

side

cover.

3.

Follow

the

cabling

instructions,

if

any,

that

come

with

the

adapter.

Route

the

adapter

cables

before

you

install

the

adapter.

4.

Follow

the

instructions

that

come

with

the

adapter

to

set

jumpers

or

switches,

if

any.

5.

Rotate

the

rear

adapter-retention

bracket

to

the

open

position

and

remove

it

from

the

server.
