Driving Safely

Driving Uphill

If all forward speed is lost:
Keep your weight uphill.
If the vehicle begins rolling downhill, never apply engine power. Never

apply the hand brake while rolling backwards.
Apply the foot brake gradually. When fully stopped, apply the hand

brake as well. Lock the hydraulic parking brake.
Dismount on the uphill side, or to either side if the vehicle is pointed

straight uphill. Turn the vehicle around and remount, following the

procedure described on page 32.

outlined in this manual for

climbing hills. Avoid climbing

hills steeper than 25_.

Always follow the procedures outlined

in this manual for braking if you stall

or roll backwards while climbing a hill.

Never back down a hill.
