Chapter 5 Additional Information

SYMPTOM

POSSIBLE CAUSE

SOLUTION

The unit does not operate when
POWER on the front panel is
pressed

No AC power

Make sure AC power is fully
inserted into an AC outlet

Remote control does not
function

Wrong deck selected

Press CD PLAY to control the
play deck; press CD REC to
control the record deck

Sensor blocked

Remove obstructions from front
panel

Dead batteries

Replace both batteries

Disc cannot be erased

CD-R disc is in use

CD-R discs are not erasable. Use
CD-RW discs

Recorded CD-R/RW disc does
not play in another CD player or
“ERROR” appears in play deck
display

CD-R/RW disc not finalized

Finalize the CD-R/RW disc in the
unit’s record deck. (see page 20)

Recording suddenly stops

Input source stopped or paused

Recordings will always stop
when the input source is
paused for more than 3
seconds for digital recordings
and 10 seconds for analog
recordings
