Adding Storage to 1850 Servers (VOD 50W)
Use the following procedure to add external storage to VOD 50W servers. The procedure is
the same for ES3 (1 TB) and ES4 (2 TB) devices.
1. Power everything down.
2. ES3/ES4 setup.
a. Connect both power cords on ES3/4.
b. Connect SCSI cable to the VOD 50W.
c. SCSI termination is internal; no terminator is necessary.
3. EtherneTV VOD-50W (VBrick VOD 50W Dell 1850) setup.
a. Connect the SCSI cable from the ES3/4 to SCSI 1/A port connector on the
EtherneTV VOD-50W; this is on the back of the 1850 on the right and the
connector on the two ports SCSI card (as shown below). If you are connecting two
external ES3/4 arrays, then connect the SCSI cable from the second storage array to
the SCSI 2/B port connector on the EtherneTV VOD-50W.
4. Power up ES3/4.
5. Power up Dell 1850.
6. After the system reboots, logon as
Administrator .
7. Click
Start > Administrator Tools > Computer Management
.
8. Select
Disk Management
under Storage. In the Initial and Convert Disk Wizard Welcome
Windows select
Next
