INSPECTING
BURNERS
Check pilot flame pattern and burner flame
patterns often.
PILOT FLAME PATTERN
Figure 32 shows a correct pilot flame pat-
tern. Figure 33 shows an incorrect pilot
flame pattern. The incorrect pilot flame is
not touching the thermocouple. This will
cause the thermocouple to cool. When the
thermocouple cools, the fireplace will shut
down.
If pilot flame pattern is incorrect, as shown
in Figure 33
• turn fireplace off (see To Turn Off Gas to
Appliance, page 15 [Thermostat-con-
trolled models] or page 16 [Manually-
controlled models])
• see Troubleshooting, pages 19 through 21

Blower Kit Model GA3650T
Series
Locate the blower switch by opening the
lower louver on fireplace. Blower switch
is located at lower left inside louver door.
The GA3650T thermostat-controlled
blower has a variable speed control with
an ON/OFF switch. The blower will start
when the thermostat senses a sufficient
increase in firebox temperature.
IMPORTANT: Light your gas appliance
with the blower off.
Note for GA3650T: If you are using
GA3650T blower, your gas fireplace and
blower will not turn on and off at the
same time. The fireplace may run for
several minutes before the blower turns
on. After the heater modulates to the
pilot position, the blower will continue to
run. The blower will shut off after the
firebox temperature decreases.
Note: It is safe to operate fireplace with
blower turned off. However, the blower helps
distribute heated air from the fireplace.
Note: Periodically check the louvers of
the firebox and remove any dust, dirt, or
other obstructions.
Follow installation instructions included
with the blower accessory.

FRONT BURNER FLAME
PATTERN
Figure 34 shows correct front burner flame
pattern. Figure 35 shows incorrect front
burner flame pattern. The incorrect burner
flame pattern shows yellow tipping at top of
blue flame.
WARNING: If front burner
flame pattern shows yellow tip-
ping, your fireplace could pro-
duce increased levels of carbon
monoxide. Follow instructions at
bottom of this page. Yellow flame
on rear burner is normal.
NOTICE: Do not mistake orange
flames with yellow tipping. Dirt
or other fine particles are burned
by fireplace, causing brief
patches of orange flame.
If front burner flame pattern is incorrect, as
shown in Figure 35
• turn fireplace off (see To Turn Off Gas to
Appliance, page 15 [Thermostat-con-
trolled models] or page 16 [Manually-
controlled models])
• see Troubleshooting, pages 19 through 21
