Sloppy Joes

4 - 5 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 bell pepper, chopped
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1 pound lean ground beef
salt and pepper, to taste

METHOD

Into the Rice Cooker Pot, combine onion, garlic, bell pepper, tomato
paste, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, vinegar,
and chili powder. Stir until mixed.

Crumble ground beef over mixture and stir well.

Close lid and press COOK.

When rice cooker switches to KEEP WARM, stir the mixture and
press COOK again.

When rice cooker switches to KEEP WARM the second time, stir well
and serve.

Split Pea and Ham Soup

3 - 4 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 cup dried split peas
2 1/2 cups homemade chicken broth or good quality canned broth
1 small meaty ham hock or 4 ounces chopped ham
2 strips bacon, diced
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 rib celery, diced
1 carrots, peeled and diced
1 small onion, peeled and diced
salt, pepper and cayenne pepper to taste

METHOD

Combine all ingredients into the Rice Cooker Pot. Press COOK. Set
timer for 45 minutes.

After 45 minutes, switch to KEEP WARM for an additional hour.
Check for seasoning. The rice cooker keeps the soup hot for as long
as you want.
