TIMING TIPS WITH THE SELF-POWERED TIMING LIGHT

• The Timing Light is supplied with batteries installed and should be ready for operation. If the Light

does not operate, check the fit of the batteries as they may dislodge during shipping.

• There are two buttons to activate the timing light designed for easy reach. Operation is the same

with either button.

• The inductive pickup is labeled to point towards the plug or distributor when installed on the spark

plug wire. This direction does not affect the MSD Timing Light.

• When installing the inductive pickup, try to isolate it from other spark plug wires to prevent any

possibility of other firing signals from interfering.

• Make sure the inductive pickup clamp is closed all the way to ensure good contact.

• When the batteries start to die the strobe will become erratic and intermittent.

• To replace the batteries, remove the two Phillips head screws on the outer edge of the back cover.

Slide the battery pack out and replace the batteries. Use care not to over-tighten the screws when

installing.
