Wiha cable keys – ideal safety for circular plug connectors
Schonach – Using exactly the right torque is both an important and difficult job for
machines and systems. Circular plug connectors are some of the most common
connectors, which is why they are of particular importance. An incorrect torque
here can potentially damage both individual components and the overall safety of
a system.
This problem is solved with the new cable keys for the Wiha torque screwdriver
range. As the ideal fastening tool for circular plug connectors, they provide both
optimum safety and the typically high quality of Wiha premium tools.
Humidity as an element of risk
Sensor/actuator cable or power supply: these are only two examples of many in machine
and system engineering in which safe connections are absolutely essential. But the
connection is untight as soon as the connector is too loose or even tightened too far.
Humidity can penetrate and pave the way for corrosion, and it is even possible that the
plug connector itself can become unusable if the O-ring is destroyed. There is often an
added risk when the user tries to prevent a fit which is too loose at all costs and thus
puts too much pressure on the fastening.
This results in finger injuries ... and still no safety for the machine or system.
Audible safety and precision
This is not the case with the new set of Wiha cable keys!
The special trick with them is that just fasten it tight until it clicks audibly. This signalises
the exact torque, and the connection is tight. In this way, even challenging applications
such as fully-loaded distributions systems can be safely connected in an instant.
Moreover, it guarantees that the fastenings comply with the requirements of protection
class IP67. Thus they are dust-tight and protected against strong jets of water and brief
submersion.
A further advantage of the Wiha cable key: It is made of glass-fibre reinforced plastic,
which means it is light and fits perfectly in your hand. It is also extremely robust and
defies even the toughest working conditions.
