3. Now that the areas are prepared the first part to install is the headlight laminate.
Before you try to stick anything, set the laminate in place over the headlight to get
acquainted with its position. It is important for you to position the laminate so that
you will have an even overlap all around the light. Try to look at this position in
such a way as to allow you to be able to set it exactly in the same spot once you
are ready to permanently stick the laminate.
4. Now that you are ready peel the release liner from the back of the laminate
completely. Bring the laminate very close to the light but do not allow it to touch
just yet. Align the laminate to a good position and then set one edge to the light
holding the bulk of the laminate away. Press the laminate to the headlight using
your thumb sliding it from side to side as you press out any air bubbles. Try not to
stretch the laminate as this will cause wrinkles. Just spread it out onto the light as
evenly as possible. Once you get started doing this you will see that it is actually
very easy to spread and that the laminate will conform very nicely to the light. It
will also allow you to roll it over the edges of the headlight leaving you with a
very nice lamination.
5. The next step will be to install the stainless trim ring to the headlight. It is
important to understand that this ring must be manually contoured to the
headlight. If you try to install this part without reshaping it perfectly and allow the
adhesive to hold the contour IT WILL LIFT!. So take a little time to gently
shape the ring so that it matches to the headlight contour perfectly. Since metal
will generally not bend itself out of shape so taking this extra time will insure a
nice long lasting bond. Once you have achieved this simply peel the red release
liner from the back of the part and then carefully manipulate it in place pressing
firmly along the ring to set it to the headlight. Remove the protective liner.
6. The last step will be to set the black chrome trim to the center horizontal rail of
the factory grille. You will notice that each of the two pieces is precut to fit to the
emblem at the center of the grille. Match the correct trim to the emblem and then
peel the red release liner from the back of the trim completely and careful set it
nice and straight directly to the grille. A properly set trim should but up nice and
tight to the emblem on one end and then tuck up against or just under the
headlight trim ring on the other end. This will depend on how your headlights are
set in place. Although it should not be necessary you may need to cut any excess
trim as you set the end. A common scissor will work fine. Press firmly along the
entire length to set and finish the installation.
