6. IEEE 1394a port. This 6-pin IEEE 1394a port provides high-speed
connectivity for audio/video devices, storage peripherals, PCs, or portable
devices.
7. External SATA port. This port connects to an external Serial ATA hard disk
drive.
• DO NOT insert a SATA connector into this external SATA port.
• To enable hot-plugging, set the Controller Mode item in the BIOS setting
to [AHCI], and then reboot the system. See section 3.5.3 Onboard Device
Configuration for details.
8. Optical S/PDIF Out port. This port connects an external audio output device
via an optical S/PDIF cable.
9. USB 2.0 ports 1 and 2. These 4-pin Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports are
available for connecting USB 2.0 devices.
10. Audio I/O ports. These ports connect to a 2, 4, 6, or 8-channel audio
system.
Refer to the audio configuration table on the next page for the function of the
audio ports in 2, 4, 6, or 8-channel configuration.
