The purpose of the EXB Config software is to configure the IP parameters for EXB-IP modules. It is normally
installed on a Service Laptop, although it can be installed on a PC running one of the MCN software packages
(MCNRCD, MCN Server, MCN Advanced Server, or MCN Server 8000).

The EXB Config software provides the following functions:

• Entry of IP Parameters for the EXB-IP modules in a channel
• Uploading the configuration to the EXB-IP modules.
• Verifying the parameters loaded into the EXB-IP modules
• Saving and Printing module IP configuration to a file for archiving purposes

In order to configure an EXB-IP module, an RS-232 connection is required from the user's PC to the EXB-IP
module being configured.

Minimum PC Requirements

Minimum PC requirements to install and operate the EXB Config Software are:

• IBM Compatible PC
• RS-232 port
• 512 MB RAM
• 100 MB free disk space for program and support files
• SVGA adapter and monitor
• Mouse and Keyboard
• Windows XP SP3 or higher

Step 1. Install EXB Config

It is recommended that the EXB Config software be installed on a PC with all the appropriate Information
Assurance precautions taken as per the network security polices in place for the system. It is recommended that
Anti-Virus software be installed and the appropriate Windows Hardening Kit be installed on the PC.

You must have Administrator rights to install the software.

The EXB Config software will be used to configure IP address parameters of EXB-IP modules, and is included
on the CDROM shipped with the modules. Use the following steps to install EXB Config on your PC:

a. Insert the EXB Config CDROM in your CDROM drive.

b. Click the Windows Start button, choose “Run...”, click Browse… , select the “Setup.exe”

application on the CDROM, and click Open .

c. Follow the instructions displayed by the “Setup” application.
