How to Calculate Power Supply Capacity

Ÿ When 6 units of Actuator RCA2-SA3 are connected and servo is turned ON at the

same time:

<Rated Current>

1.3A

× 6 units = 7.8A < 8.5A (1 unit)

<Peak Maximum Current>

4.4A

× 6 units = 26.4A > 17.0A (1 unit)

< 30.6A (2 units)

Ÿ When 2 units of Actuator RCA2-RN4N, 2 units of RCL-RA3L and 2 units of RCP2-

SA5C are connected and servo is turned ON at the same time:

<Rated Current>

1.7A

× 2 units + 1.3A × 2 units + 1.2A × 2 units = 8.4A < 8.5A (1 unit)

<Peak Maximum Current>

5.1A

× 2 units + 6.4A × 2 units + 2.0A × 2 units = 27.0A > 17.0A (1 unit)

< 30.6A (2 units)

1) When multiple actuators are operated in the same operation pattern with the maximum

load and maximum acceleration speed at the same time, the rated current is under 8.5A
in (Example 1) and (Example 2), however, the transient maximum current exceeds 17A,
thus the capacity would not be enough with only one unit.
→ It is necessary to connect 2 units in parallel.

Ÿ Have several timings to turn the servo ON.

Ÿ Do not operate multiple actuators in the same operation pattern with the maximum load

and maximum acceleration speed at the same time.

→ If a satisfaction of the above 2 conditions is ensured, it is feasible to operate with one

unit.
