CONDITIONS POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTION
DRUM WILL NOT ROTATE AT ALL Gears damaged. Inspect and replace damaged gears.
Winch not mounted squarely, Check mounting. Refer to WINCH
causing end bearing to bind up drum. MOUNTING page.
Brake not disengaging. Check shuttle valve operation.
Check hose for leakage.
Check port for blockage.
Disassemble & inspect brake.
DRUM WILL NOT ROTATE UNDER Load greater than rated capacity of Refer to SPECIFICATIONS page for
LOAD winch. line pull rating.
Not enough pressure or not enough Check pressure. Refer to
flow. HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS performance
spec page.
Winch not mounted squarely, Check mounting. Refer to WINCH
causing end bearing to bind up drum. MOUNTING page.
Brake not disengaging. Check shuttle valve operation.
Check port for blockage.
Disassemble & inspect brake.
WINCH RUNS TOO SLOW Motor worn out. Replace motor.
Low flow rate. Check flow rate. Refer to HYDRAULIC
SYSTEMS flow spec page.
Brake not fully released. Check pressure reaches 24 bar
WIRE ROPE DRUM WILL NOT Winch not mounted squarely Check mounting. Refer to WINCH
FREE SPOOL causing end bearing to bind up drum. MOUNTING page.
Damaged freespool handle linkage. See your Superwinch Distributor.
OIL LEAKAGE AROUND MOTOR Loose fitting. Tighten.
Damaged motor shaft seal. Replace motor.
LOAD DRIFTS Brake worn. Replace brake discs.
Improper directional control valve Check control valve. Refer to
spool. HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS page.
EXCESSIVE NOISE Low gearbox gel level. Check oil level, add oil if necessary.
Flow too high. Check flow rate. Refer to HYDRAULIC
SYSTEMS spec page.
DRUM CHATTERS Drum binds, winch not mounted Check mounting. refer to WINCH
squarely. MOUNTING page.
DRUM CHATTERS Cont... Low flow. Check flow rate. Refer to HYDRAULIC
SYSTEMS flow chart page.
Low relief. Check relief valve setting. Refer to
MAXIMUM SYSTEMS REQUIRE
MENT page.
OIL LEAK AROUND BRAKE Damaged seal or housing. Disassemble brake & repair.
