Probe Data Cable
The probe data cable is used to transfer x1 and x4 link PCI Express data to and from the
Exerciser. The cable has a single wide connector on one end for connecting to the
Interposer or the Host Emulation Test Fixture. At the cable’s other end are four smaller
connectors labeled A, B, C, and D. These connectors attach to ports on the front of a
PETrainer ML or PETracer ML system.
Each of the small connectors can only transmit in one direction. This means that at a
minimum, two connectors are needed: one to transmit and one to receive.
Each connector transmits four physical lanes of unidirectional traffic. The lanes and port
assignments are shown in the illustration below.
Cable A, for example, transmits Lanes 0, 1, 2, and 3.
