PNP/PCI Configurations

This section describes configuring the PCI bus system. PCI (Peripheral Component
Interconnect) is a system, which allows I/O devices to operate at speeds nearing
CPU’s when they communicate with own special components. All the options de-
scribes in this section are important and technical and it is strongly recommended
that only experienced users should make any changes to the default settings.

** Reload Global Timer Events **

Global Timer (power management) events are I/O events whose occurrence can
prevent the system from entering a power saving mode or can awaken the system
from such a mode. In effect, the system remains alert for anything that occurs to a
device that is configured as Enabled, even when the system is in a power-down mode.

Resources Controlled By (Auto(ECSD))

You should leave this item at the default Auto(ESCD). Under this setting, the system
dynamically allocates resources to Plug and Play devices as they are required. If you
cannot get a legacy ISA (Industry Standard Architecture) expansion card to work
properly, you might be able to solve the problem by changing this item to Manual,
and then opening up the IRQ Resources submenu.
