Sewing overcasting stitches using the optional side cutter

Using the side cutter, seam allowances can be finished while the edge of the fabric is cut off. Four stitches can
be used to sew overcasting stitches with the side cutter.

When using the side cutter, adjust the stitch width setting to a value within the range indicated in the table
above.

Remove the presser foot.

• For details, refer to “Replacing the presser

foot” (page 41).

Lower the presser foot lever, and then
manually thread the needle.

• The needle threader cannot be used. If the

needle threader is used with the side cutter,
the sewing machine may be damaged.

Raise the presser foot lever.

Hook the connecting fork of the side cutter
onto the needle clamp screw.

Position the side cutter so that side cutter pin
is aligned with the notch in the presser foot
holder, and then slowly lower the presser foot
lever.
