Deleting pools

1.

Change the Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console mode to Modify. For more information

about changing the mode, see the HP StorageWorks Command View XP User Guide for XP Disk Arrays

or the HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console User Guide for XP12000/XP10000.

2.

Select and right-click the pool you want to delete, and select Delete Pool. A confirmation message

appears asking if it is OK to delete the selected pool.

3.

Click OK. The selected pool’s icon changes to the icon indicating the deleting process.

4.

Click Apply. A confirmation message appears asking if it is OK to apply the setting to the disk array.

5.

Click OK. The confirmation message closes, and the pool is deleted from the disk array.

Initializing V-VOL management areas or pool management blocks

This section describes how to initialize the whole V-VOL management areas or a pool management block

in the V-VOL management area.

Initializing V-VOL management areas

By initializing the whole V-VOL management area, you can create a pool with a capacity that is larger

than before the initialization or create more pools compared to before the initialization.
You must delete all pools in the disk array to initialize the V-VOL management area. If pools exist in the

disk array, only the pool management block is initialized instead of the whole V-VOL management area.

1.

Change the Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console mode to Modify.
For more information about changing the mode, see the HP StorageWorks Command View XP User

Guide for XP Disk Arrays or the HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console for XP12000/XP10000.

2.

Click Initialize in the Pool pane.
A confirmation message appears asking if it is OK to initialize the V-VOL management area or pool

management block.

3.

Click OK.
A confirmation message appears asking if it is OK to cancel all operations performed in the Pool pane.

4.

Click OK.
A confirmation message appears asking if it is OK to apply settings to the disk array and perform the

initialization.

5.

Click OK.
The V-VOL management area or pool management block is initialized.

Initializing pool management blocks

If you initialize the pool management block, the pool’s I/O performance improves compared to before

initialization. You can initialize the pool management block without changing pools already created in the

disk array.
The procedure to initialize the pool management block is the same as for initializing the V-VOL

management area. To initialize the pool management block, see ”

NOTE:

You might need up to 20 minutes to initialize the pool management block.

Creating or deleting virtual volumes

Use the V-VOL pane to create V-VOLs.

1.

Launch Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console.

2.

Click the Volume Management button. The Volume Management pane appears.
