If the # symbol appears to the right of a logical volume number, the logical volume is an external LU.

You cannot assign access attributes to external LUs that Flex Copy XP uses and that have host I/O

suppression enabled.
If V is displayed to the right of a volume, the volume is a virtual volume.

Attribute: Logical volume’s access attribute. If the attribute is Can't Guard, you cannot assign an access

attribute to the logical volume.

Type: Volume emulation type.
If an asterisk and a number appear to the right of an emulation type, the logical volume is a LUSE

volume. For example, OPEN-3*36 indicates a LUSE volume consisting of 36 logical volumes. For more

information about LUSE volumes, see the HP StorageWorks LUN Configuration and Security Manger XP

user guide for the specific array.

Capacity: Logical volume’s capacity in gigabytes (GB) to two decimal places.

VMA Size: If VMA is set on the logical volume, this column displays the VMA capacity. If VMA is not

set on the logical volume, this column displays a hyphen (-). Because the capacity of VMA for LUN

Security XP Extension is fixed, this column always displays 5.00MB when VMA is set on the logical

volume.

S-Vol: Indicates if the logical volume can be specified as a copy destination for Continuous Access XP

and Business Copy XP operations.

NOTE:

This guide sometimes uses the term S-VOL or secondary volume to refer to a logical volume

used as a Continuous Access XP or Business Copy XP copy destination.

Reserved: Indicates if you can use RAID Manager XP or other device management tools to set LU path

and command device settings.
• Hyphen (-): You can use other device management tools to change LU path and command device

settings on the logical volume.

• RAID Manager: You can use only RAID Manager XP to change LU path or command device settings

on the logical volume.

Retention Term: Period (in days) during which you cannot change the access attribute to Read/Write.
For example, if 500 appears, you cannot change the access attribute to Read/Write during the next

500 days. If Unlimited appears, the retention term is extended indefinitely and you can no longer

change the access attribute of the volume or its extent. If a hyphen (-) appears, no retention term is

assigned. If you need to change the access attribute to Read/Write, contact your HP account support

representative.

Paths: Number of LU paths to each logical volume.

CAUTION:

After the retention term is set, you can only extend the volume’s retention term. You

cannot shorten the retention term. For more information, see

Modifying retention terms

” on

page 25.

Logical volumes (with VMA and extent settings) that have the Read Only attribute

Logical volumes (without VMA settings) that have the Protect attribute.

Logical volumes (with VMA settings) that have the Protect attribute.

Logical volumes (with VMA and extent settings) that have the Protect attribute

Mainframe volumes and logical volumes (logical devices) that are not mapped to physical storage

devices. You cannot assign an access attribute to these volumes.
