Viewing and Customizing Your Image Documents

Viewing and Customizing Your Image
Documents

There are several tools in PaperMaster 98 that you can use to customize
your scanned and printed documents (PaperMaster Image Documents).
We’ll go over some of them in this tutorial.

The customizations described in this tutorial are limited to documents which
are scanned or printed into the cabinet (printed from a Windows application or
HotPrinted from your browser). You cannot customize documents stored in the
original application format (including web pages which are HotSaved).

Opening and Viewing a Document

Opening a document in PaperMaster 98 is very easy. Here is a quick
demonstration of how to open the registration card in the Document
Viewer. From there, you’ll move on to cropping the document, filling out
the registration card using Type Text annotations, faxing it to
DocuMagix, and then printing a copy for your own use.

1. Double click on the document you wish to open from the Search

window or select it and click on the “Open Document” button.

If you know where the document is, you can skip the search. Double-click on the
“Open Me First!” drawer. Double-click on the “DocuMagix Information” folder.
Double-click on the document entitled “DocuMagix Registration Card.”

Documents which are HotSaved to the cabinet from your web browser will not
open in the PaperMaster Image Viewer. Instead, they are automatically
displayed in your browser. Similarly, documents stored in their original
application format will be displayed in that application as a default. If you
prefer, you can set the Application Viewer which is built into PaperMaster as
the default instead. The Application Viewer displays documents faster than
many applications, making it convenient for quickly scanning a series of
documents. The default can be changed using the Application Tab in the
PaperMaster Options dialog.

Cropping Your Document

This is a very useful feature, especially when you have smaller documents
you want to keep track of, such as business cards or the registration card.

1. Choose AutoCrop from the Image menu. This automatically removes

any excess white space around the document.
