4.6.2 Virtual Volume Analysis

The analysis of virtual volumes that draw space from CPGs has different parameters than the

analysis of virtual volumes that draw space directly from LDs. For more information about

virtual volume analysis requirements and restrictions, see

Requirements and Restrictions

on

page 4.2. For detailed information about the InForm OS CLI commands, see the InForm OS

Command Line Interface Reference and InForm CLI Help.

4.6.2.1 Virtual Volumes Created from Logical Disks

Virtual volumes created directly from LDs are virtual volumes created with the InForm

createaldvv

CLI command, or the InForm Management Console Fully Provisioned from

PDs option. The analysis of virtual volumes created directly from LDs is performed at the

virtual volume level and the underlying LDs are not analyzed. When virtual volumes don't

match the specified parameters, tuning operations are recommended for the unmatched

virtual volumes.

The following Policy Advisor script options can be used to generate tuning suggestions for

virtual volumes created directly from LDs:

NOTE: Disks in a failed or degraded state do not appear in PD analysis reports

because failed and degraded disks are not available for tuning.
