If this check box is selected, options are set to all the selected CLPRs. If this check box is cleared,
options are only set to the CLPR selected in the drop-down list.

Level 2 Threshold drop-down list
Use to select the threshold for the sidefile for reporting SCP-SCI. This threshold is called the SCP-SCI
reporting threshold or the level-2 threshold.
Note: SCP is an acronym for State Change Pending. SCI is an acronym for State Change Interrupt.
The level-2 threshold must be within the range of 30 to 70 percent and must be a multiple of 10
percent (for example, 30, 40, 50, 60, or 70 percent). The default is 50 percent.
Caution: The level-2 threshold is set to the area in which the SCP-SCI reporting threshold for
TrueCopy Asynchronous for Mainframe, TrueCopy Asynchronous for Mainframe, or Concurrent
Copy. Keep in mind that the level-2 threshold for Compatible XRC and the SCP-SCI reporting
threshold for TrueCopy Asynchronous for Mainframe, TrueCopy Asynchronous for Mainframe, or
Concurrent Copy affect each other.
Note: To calculate the level-1 threshold, subtract 10 percent from the level-2 threshold. To calculate
the level-3 threshold, add 10 percent to the level-2 threshold.

Block Option
Use to set the IBM-compatibility mode for the device blocking function, or to control the amount
of write data according to sidefile capacity:
Volume Level radial button

The Volume Level radial button sets IBM-compatibility mode for the device blocking function.
Write I/Os to volumes are put in a sleep-wait status by executing the command. If you reissue
the command, the write I/Os will restart. The amount of write data may exceed the threshold
for the number of record sets per volume. The threshold is specified by SDM and the default
threshold is 0x500.
Note: If the Volume Level radial button is selected, Do not Block (Volume Level) is set to Enable.
Also, Level 1 Sleep and Level 2 Suspend are set to Disable.

Cache Level radial button

Depending on the sidefile capacity, the storage system performs one of the following three
levels of control of the amount of write data (see

Figure 14

on page 35).

Note: If the Cache Level radial button is selected, and Cache Level is set, the IBM system data
mover (SDM) function will not work.

• Level 1

This level of control is performed when the sidefile capacity is equal to or larger than the level-1
threshold, and is smaller than the level-2 threshold.
If Level 1 Sleep is set to Enable, write I/Os to volumes are put in a wait status by command
retry when the sleep wait threshold (for example, level-1 threshold) is exceeded.
If Level 1 Sleep is set to Disable, write I/Os to volumes will not be put in a wait status.

• Level 2

This level of control is performed when the sidefile capacity is equal to or larger than the level-2
threshold, and is smaller than the level-3 threshold.
If Level 2 Suspend is set to Disable, write I/Os to volumes are put in a wait status by SCP-SCI
reporting when the SCP-SCI reporting threshold (for example, level-2 threshold) is exceeded.
If Level 2 Suspend is set to Enable, the storage system will not report SCP-SCI to hosts. Sidefile
puncture will occur and the target session will be suspended.
Note: Sidefile puncture is the sidefile threshold plus 10%.
