TrueCopy

TrueCopy enables you to create copies of volumes in two different storage systems at remote locations.
You can manage the data in mainframe systems by using the TrueCopy remote console software or
by using TSO and/or IDSK commands.

TrueCopy has synchronous TrueCopy Asynchronous copy modes.

TrueCopy synchronous can be used for volume-based real-time data backup. TrueCopy synchronous
can be used in conjunction with Compatible XRC to support disaster recovery systems in three
data center (3DC) configuration. See

Using Compatible XRC in Conjunction with TrueCopy

” on page 16 for further information on

combining Compatible XRC with TrueCopy synchronous operations.

TrueCopy Asynchronous enables you to back up data asynchronously using the host write operation,
so that the response time to the host is not increased.

This user’s guide does not cover TrueCopy operations. For information and instructions on performing
TrueCopy operations, please refer to Hitachi TrueCopy™ for Mainframe User's Guide: HP
XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array
, or contact your HP account team.

ShadowImage

ShadowImage enables you to set up and maintain multiple copies of volumes within the same
XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array storage system. You can manage data in mainframe systems by using
the ShadowImage software or by using TSO and/or IBM's Device Support Facility (IDSF) commands.

The RAID-protected ShadowImage duplicate volumes are created within the same XP24000/XP20000
Disk Array storage system at hardware speeds. ShadowImagecan be used in conjunction with
Compatible XRC to maintain multiple copies of critical data at your primary and/or secondary sites.
See “

Using Compatible XRC in Conjunction with ShadowImage for Mainframe

” on page 17 for further

information on combining Compatible XRC and ShadowImage operations.

This user’s guide does not cover ShadowImage operations. For information and instructions on
performing ShadowImage, please refer to Hitachi ShadowImage™ for Mainframe User's Guide: HP
XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array
, or contact your HP account team.

FlashCopy Mirroring

Compatible Mirroring for IBM FlashCopy (henceforth referred to as FlashCopy Mirroring) enables
you to set up and maintain multiple copies of volumes within the same XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array
storage system. The FlashCopy Mirroring operations can be performed in the XP24000/XP20000
Disk Array storage systems by using the TSO and/or IBM’s Data Facility Storage Management
Subsystem Data Set Services (DFSMSdss) commands from the host.

If you use FlashCopy Mirroring in conjunction with Compatible XRC, you are able to maintain multiple
copies of critical data at your primary and/or secondary sites. For details of combination of HP
Compatible XRC and FlashCopy Mirroring operations, see

Using Compatible XRC in Conjunction with FlashCopy Mirror

” on page 18.

This user’s guide does not cover FlashCopy Mirroring operations. For information and instructions on
performing FlashCopy Mirroring operations, please refer to the Hitachi ShadowImage™ for Mainframe
User's Guide: HP XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array
