Requirements for Snapshot XP operations

This chapter describes requirements for using Snapshot XP, installing Snapshot XP, and calculating the

number of pairs that Snapshot XP can create.

Requirements for using Snapshot XP

Installing and uninstalling Snapshot XP

This section describes procedures for installing and uninstalling Snapshot XP.

Installing Snapshot XP

1.

Install additional shared memory for differential tables.

2.

Install additional shared memory for the V-VOL management area.
When using an XP10000/SVS200, you do not need to install additional shared memory. You only

need to define shared memory for the V-VOL management area.

3.

Install Business Copy XP, which is a prerequisite for Snapshot XP.

4.

Install Snapshot XP.

NOTE:

Contact your HP account support representative to install additional shared memory for the V-VOL

management area.

After installing additional shared memory for the V-VOL management area, you cannot partially

uninstall it. To uninstall additional shared memory for the V-VOL management area, you must uninstall

the entire shared memory added for the V-VOL management area.

Prerequisite software product

Install Business Copy XP.

Pool

Create the pool. The pool’s maximum capacity changes with shared memory’s

capacity.

V-VOL

Create the V-VOL.

Operation

Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console and RAID Manager XP are

required to operate Snapshot XP.
