The following instructions will assist you with the proper set-up and operation of this

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
IMPORTANT: In order to reduce the risk of fi res or electric shock, read and save
these instructions prior to operation.
• DO NOT exceed electrical rating.
• DO NOT splice, repair, or modify. Fully extend cord before using.
• DO NOT use in wet conditions. Use indoors only. Not for use with aquariums.
• Keep children and pets (other than your terrarium animals) away from fi xture.
• Fully insert plug. Unplug power cord before inserting or changing bulb.
• DO NOT cover with blankets, rugs or any material.
• DO NOT use damaged cord sets – inspect periodically.
• DO NOT alter or modify this product. Contact an electrician if you are unsure about
the electrical connection.
• This unit has no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to examine or repair this
product yourself. Return to Zoo Med for inspection and repair.
WARNING! RISK OF FIRE:
Read and save all safety instructions before operating lamp fi xture.
IMPORTANT: This appliance has a GROUNDED plug for safety and must be plugged into
a grounded receptacle. Do not modify the plug in any way.
CAUTION:
ReptiSun ® UVB lamps emit UV radiation and must be used in accordance with these
instructions. Just as you would not stare into the sun, do not stare into this lamp! This
lamp must be placed directly overhead of your reptiles, and not to the side which would
force them to stare into the lamp. A lways have your lamp at least six inches away
from your reptiles. Failure to use this lamp according to these instructions may result
in personal injury or may cause injury to your reptile(s).
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
Zoo Med’s ReptiSun T5 High Output Terrarium Hood is designed to fi t terrariums 14
inches wide and up. This hood can hold one 15 watt / 12” ReptiSun T5 HO Fluorescent
UVB lamp. See below to determine which lamp is best for your animals.
ReptiSun ® 5.0 T5 High Output - 15 watt / 12” (Item FS5-15)
• Designed for use with tropical & temperate reptiles in terrariums that are up
to 18” tall.
• Ideal for use with the following species:
- Tropical lizards (Green Iguanas, Day Geckos, Anoles, Water Dragons)
- Aquatic Turtles, Box Turtles, & Tortoises
- Old-world Chameleons (Panther Chameleons, Veiled Chameleons, Jackson’s
Chameleons, etc.)
ReptiSun ® 10.0 T5 High Output - 15 watt / 12” (Item OS5-15)
• Designed for use with desert reptiles in terrariums that are up to 30” tall.
• Ideal for use with the following species:
- Bearded Dragons
- Uromastyx
- Monitors & Tegus
- Other desert reptile species
1. Select the appropriate lamp from the list above (lamp sold separately).
2. Be sure that lamp is unplugged when removing or installing the lamp.
3. Install lamp into fi xture by inserting pins into lampholders and rotating the lamp
one quarter turn.
4. Place the fi xture on the top of the terrarium above the screen cover.
5. Fully insert plug into power outlet.
6. Turn fi xture on using the on/off switch located on the back of the fi xture near
the power cord.
WHY YOUR REPTILES NEED UVB AND UVA
LIGHTING:
UVB: Reptiles need UVB for vitamin D production and calcium metabolism. Without UVB,
reptiles can develop Metabolic Bone Disease in 6 months or less. UVB along with proper
temperatures, will enable your reptiles to make vitamin D and process calcium from
their diet.
UVA: Reptiles and amphibians can see things that humans can’t. UVA is part of the
rainbow of colors that reptiles can see. UVA helps to increase activity levels, appetite,
and reproductive behaviors. Without UVA, they are colorblind!
IMPORTANT NOTES: Fine mesh blocks up to 50% of light and UVB. This should be taken
into consideration when determining lamp distance. Glass and plastic fi lter out UVB;
there should be no glass or plastic between the lamp and your reptile. Always have
your lamp at least six inches away from your reptiles.
WHEN TO REPLACE YOUR LAMP: This lamp will provide your animals with benefi cial
UVB for a period of 12 months when used 10 to 12 hours per day. Record date of fi rst
use on lamp and replace after 12 months. Use Zoo Med’s “UVB Reminder” tool online at:
www.zoomed.com.
WARRANTY:
Zoo Med Laboratories, Inc. (Zoo Med) warrants this product to be free of defects in
material and workmanship under normal use and service for one year from the date of
purchase. The obligation under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement, at
Zoo Med’s discretion, of the product or any part thereof, when the product is returned to
Zoo Med, freight prepaid. No claim shall be allowed under this warranty if, in the opinion
of Zoo Med, this product has been subject to accident or improper usage, including but
not limited to: water damage, improper storage, accidental dropping, etc. This warranty
is in lieu of all other warranties and representations express or implied. Please include
your receipt, full name, address, phone number, and email address along with a note
explaining failure when sending any product back to Zoo Med. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks
for repair or replacement.
