Starting a Local
Management
Session
To start a local management session, perform the following procedure:
1. Connect one end of the null modem management cable included
with the switch to the RS232 Terminal Port on a master of the stack.
The master switch has a Stack ID of 1. (The STACK ID LEDs on the front
of the switches will tell you which is the master switch of the stack.)

2. Connect the other end of the cable to an RS232 port on a terminal or
a PC with a terminal emulation program.
3. Configure the terminal or terminal emulation program as follows:
❑ Emulation mode: VT100
❑ Baud rate: 9600
❑ Data bits: 8
❑ Parity: None
❑ Stop bits: 1
❑ Flow control: None
❑ Key mode: Terminal keys
