Frame a photograph, focus, and shoot.

While the shutter-release button is pressed all the
way down, pictures will be taken at the frame rate
selected for Custom Setting d2 ([Shooting speed], pg. 320).

Continuous High Speed

In continuous high speed mode, the maximum frame rate for FX (36 × 24)
format and 5 : 4 (30 × 24) images is 9 fps. The maximum frame rate for DX
(24 × 16) format images can be chosen from 9, 10, and 11 fps using
Custom Setting d2 ([Shooting speed], pg. 320) > [Continuous high-speed]
(note that at 10 and 11 fps, focus will be fixed at the value for the first shot
in each burst and when poorly lit, exposure will also be fixed at the value
for the first shot).

Buffer Size

The approximate number of images that can be
stored in the memory buffer at current settings is
shown in the exposure-count displays in the
viewfinder and top control panel while the
shutter-release button is pressed.

The illustration

at right shows the display when space remains in
the buffer for about 33 pictures. The displays show “99” when space
remains for more than 99 pictures.
