Hookup 2: Connecting a cable box with
many scrambled channels

Use this hookup if your cable system scrambles all or most
channels.
With this hookup:
– You can record any unscrambled channel by selecting the

channel on the cable box. Be sure that the cable box is turned
on.

– You cannot record one channel while watching another

channel.

Hint

If the cable box has the audio/video output jacks, connect them to the
LINE IN 1 or 3 jacks of this recorder. You can record unscrambled
channels by setting the recorder’s input to “L1” or “L3.”

Note

When connecting the cable box with the antenna hookup only, set the
recorder to the channel where the signal from the cable box appears on
the TV screen.

Hookup 3: Connecting a cable box with
only a few scrambled channels

Use this hookup if your cable system scrambles only a few
channels.
With this hookup:
– You can record any non-scrambled channel by selecting the

channel on the recorder.

– You cannot record scrambled channels that require a cable box.
