Troubleshooting

If you experience any of the following difficulties while
using the player, use this troubleshooting guide to help
remedy the problem before requesting repairs. Should
any problem persist, consult your nearest Sony dealer.

Power

The green LED power indicator does not light up.

, Check that the AC adaptor with AC cord is

connected securely.

, The Control for HDMI function on the TV must

be set to "ON" (see page 17).

Picture

There is no picture/picture noise appears.

, Ensure the HDMI cable is securely connected.
, The connecting cords are damaged.
, Check the connection to your TV (page 16).
, The disc is dirty or damaged.
, Access the player through the XMB

or panel

menu's External Inputs menu.

, Try the following: 1 Turn the player off and on

again. 2 Disconnect and then connect the HDMI
cord again. 3 Unplug the power to the DVD
player, then reconnect it.

, Ensure the USB cable is securely connected (TVs

with XMB

)

The picture does not fill the screen, or extends
beyond the screen.

, The aspect ratio of the disc is fixed on your DVD.
, When using the DVD player, the Screen settings

on your TV are fixed.

Sound

There is no sound.

, Re-connect the HDMI cable securely.
, The HDMI cable is damaged.
, The player is in pause mode or in Slow-motion

Play mode.

, The player is in fast forward or fast reverse mode.

, If a Home Theater System that supports Control

for HDMI is connected to your TV, audio will
automatically output from the Home Theater
System.

No sound is output from the HDMI OUT port

, Try the following: 1 Turn the player off and on

again. 2 Disconnect and then connect the HDMI
cord again. 3 Unplug the power to the DVD
player, then reconnect it.

, The HDMI OUT port is connected to a DVI device

(DVI ports do not accept audio signals).

The sound volume is low.

, The sound volume is low on some DVDs. The

sound volume may improve if you set “AUDIO
DRC
” in “AUDIO SETUP” to “TV MODE
(page 41).

Operation

The remote does not function.

, The batteries in the TV remote are weak.
, There are obstacles between the TV remote and the

TV.

, The distance between the remote and the player is

too far.

, The remote is not pointed at the remote sensor on

the TV (see the TV's Operating Instructions).

, Some of the buttons on the supplied remote control

may not operate your TV.

, Some of the buttons that operate the TV may not

function in the DVD mode.

The disc does not play.

, The disc is inserted incorrectly (page 17).
, The player cannot play certain discs (page 5).
, The region code on the DVD does not match the

player.

, Moisture has condensed inside the player (page 3).
, The player cannot play a recorded disc that is not

correctly finalized (page 5).

The MP3 audio track cannot be played.

, Check that the Data CD/DVD is recorded in a

compatible format (page 43).

, The MP3 audio track does not have the extension

“.MP3.”

, The data is not formatted in MP3 even though it

has the extension “.MP3.”

, The data is not MPEG-1 Audio Layer III data.
, The player cannot play audio tracks in mp3PRO

format.
