Taking pictures by using the flash

Applicable modes:

Open/Close the built-in flash

Taking a picture using the flash becomes
possible by opening the built-in flash.

A To open the built-in flash

Turn the camera on, and press the flash
open button.

B To close the built-in flash

Press the built-in flash until it clicks.

Forcibly closing the flash can damage the camera.

Be sure to close the built-in flash when not in use.

The built-in flash does not open automatically.

Be careful not to catch a finger when closing the built-in flash.

The available flash range

If the distance to the subject is close when taking a picture using a flash, part of the
recorded image becomes dark because the light of flash is blocked by the lens or it
becomes out of flash range. Check the distance to the subject when taking a picture. The
distance at which light from the flash is blocked by lens, and the distance to which light
from the flash is delivered vary depending on the lens used.

The available flash range is an approximation.

This is the range when ISO Limit Set

(P134)

is set to [OFF].
