Step 8.

Install the new hard disk drive as follows:

a.

Attach the shielding to the new hard disk drive, and secure it to the hard disk drive with the
two screws.

b.

Line up the new hard disk drive with the bracket and secure it with the pins.

c.

Slide the hard disk drive and bracket back into position.

Step 9.

Reattach the rear cover.

Replacing the optical drive

Attention: Turn off the computer and wait 3 to 5 minutes to let it cool down before removing the cover.

To replace the optical drive

Step 1.

Remove any media (disks, CDs, DVDs, or memory cards) from the drives, shut down the operating
system, and turn off the computer and all attached devices.

Step 2.

Unplug all power cords from electrical outlets.

Step 3.

Disconnect all cables attached to the computer. This includes power cords, input/output (I/O)
cables, and any other cables that are connected to the computer. Refer to “Left and right view”
and “Rear view” for help with locating the various connectors.

Step 4.

Remove the rear cover. Refer to “Removing the rear cover”.

Step 5.

Push down the pin that locks the optical disk drive to the chassis then use the screwdriver push
the disk out.

Step 6.

Push a small iron stick (paper clip) into the small hole on the optical drive cover so that the disk
springs out as shown.

Step 7.

Remove the 2 screws that secure the optical drive to the metal bracket.
