1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then, disconnect all

power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the server.

2. If the server is installed in a rack cabinet, remove the server from the rack cabinet and place it on a flat,

clean, and static-protective surface.

3. Remove the server cover. See “Removing the server cover” on page 55.

4. Remove the ThinkServer RAID 700 Adapter from the riser card assembly. See “Installing or removing

the RAID card” on page 62.

5. Carefully remove the three screws that secure the TR 700 Battery and then remove the TR 700 Battery

from the ThinkServer RAID 700 Adapter.

Note: Center the screwdriver when you remove the screws to avoid possible damage to any parts.

6. If you want to install a new TR 700 Battery, see “Installing the TR 700 Battery” on page 69.

7. Reinstall the ThinkServer RAID 700 Adapter onto the riser card assembly. See “Installing or removing

the RAID card” on page 62.

8. Reinstall the riser card assembly. See “Replacing the riser card assembly” on page 75.

CAUTION:
When laser products (such as CD-ROMs, DVD drives, fiber optic devices, or transmitters) are
installed, note the following:

• Do not remove the covers. Removing the covers of the laser product could result in exposure to

hazardous laser radiation. There are no serviceable parts inside the device.
