within the chapter about Windows printing.
Note: The functionality of the MacOS X printer driver plug-in is restricted by the
following items: Nto1, Paper Source (tray specific settings), Header Page, Per
Page Settings for trays, Chaptering, Pile Permission, Tab Sheets, Forms, Page
Numbering, Set Numbering, Tandem, Send E-Mail, Send Windows Message.
Note: Some applications do not support the printer driver plug-in because they
provide their own printer driver. Without the plug-in, you can select bizhub PRO
1050 specific features in the Printer Specific Options panel of the Print dialog.
Note that some features of the plug-in, like gutter or user authentication can be
set only in the plug-in, but not in the Printer Specific Options panel due to
restrictions of the PPD format. (The PPD format does not support features with
arbitrary string or numeric values.)
Printing in the Classic Environment
For printing from applications running in the Classic Environment of MacOS X,
the MacOS 9 printer driver plug-in can be used.
You can recognize an application running in the Classic Environment by the
Apple menu being shown by the rainbow colored Apple icon.
To start the Classic Environment manually, select System Preferences » Classic
» Start. In the Classic control panel, activate Show Classic status in menu bar.
This shows an icon shaped like a “9” on the right side of the menu bar. To open
the chooser, select 9 » Apple Menu Items » Chooser.
If the Classic Environment is running, you can install and configure a printer
using AdobePS driver and the bizhub PRO 1050 specific MacOS 9 printer driver
software as described below. This will allow you to print from applications
running in the Classic Environment of MacOS X and to use the MacOS 9 printer
driver plug-in.
