The camera does not work
Possible cause

The camera does not turn on or function buttons do not respond.
The power is off.
Press the power switch and turn on the camera.
The batteries are
loaded incorrectly.
Reload the batteries correctly.
The batteries are
exhausted.
Replace the batteries with new ones.
The batteries are
temporarily unable to
function because of
the cold.
Warm the batteries by putting them in your pocket
for a while.

The camera is in the
sleep mode.
Operate the camera (press the shutter button or
the zoom lever).
There is
condensation

inside
the camera.
Wait until the camera dries before turning it on
again.

The camera is
connected to a PC.
The camera will not operate while it is connected
to a PC.

∗ Condensation: When it is cold outside, the water vapor in the air is rapidly cooled and
turns to droplets of water. Condensation occurs when the camera is
suddenly taken from a cold place into a warm room.
No picture is taken when the shutter button is pressed.
The camera is in the
playback mode.
Set the mode dial to any position except
q.
The flash has not
finished charging.
Remove your finger from the shutter button, and
wait until the
# (flash standby) indication stops
blinking. Press the shutter button again.
The card is full.
Erase unwanted pictures or insert a new card.
Before erasing, download important images to a
PC.
The batteries ran out
of power during
shooting or while the
images were being
written to the card.
(Monitor turns off, or
the battery check
indicator blinks.)
Replace the batteries with new ones. (If images
are being recorded on the card, wait until
recording is finished.)
