BUTTONHOLE STITCHES

1. Mark the positions of the b uttonholes on the f abric.

The maximum buttonhole length is 3 cm (1-3/16”) (total of
diameter + thickness of b utton).

Always make your stitch samples out of scr aps from the f abric you will be using. For standard b utton holes ,

2. Draw out the b utton holder plate and inser t the b utton.

Place a button on the b uttonholer as illustr ated to auto-
matically gauge buttonhole siz e.

CAUTION
Pass the thread underneath the presser foot.

3. Raise the presser foot and adjust the f abric so that the red

mark on the f oot is o ver the star ting mark of y our b uttonhole .
Lower the presser f oot into position.

4. Lower the b uttonhole le ver and position it behind the metal

bracket on the b uttonhole f oot.

CAUTION
After the presser foot lever has been lowered,
set the presser foot so that there is no gap be-
hind the section marked with an “A”, otherwise
the size of the stitch will not be correct. To do
this, push the presser foot towards the back of
the machine as shown in the left figure.
