55) Remove the bolts holding the case halves together. On some models, you will have to remove the
external shift mechanism to access the attaching bolt (photo 40).Remove the rubber access plug to
expose the snap ring. Remove the spring loaded detent from the lower portion of the transfer case (photo
41). Open snap ring and separate case halves. Set the back half aside.
