3.7

Modifying the Bearing Cap

3.7.1

Drilling the Bearing Cap

Hold the bearing cap steady for drilling in a soft jawed vise clamp.

NOTE :

Do not apply too much clamping pressure with the
vise. The bearing cap may be damaged.

Using a pedestal drill, drill a 6.35mm [¼’’] hole through the bearing

cap where the seal housing tube hole has been marked.

Remove the bearing cap from the vise, turn it upside down, and

re-clamp it in the vise.

The drilled hole must be chamfered approximately 3mm [1/8”] to

remove any sharp edges that may chip-off and fall into the housing.
