Troubleshooting 21

Problem: The scanner feels warm to the touch.
Solution: It is normal for the scanner to emit a small amount of heat

(around 30-45 C) after prolonged use. However, if there

are strange odors coming out from the scanner or the

scanner feels hot to the touch, disconnect the scanner

immediately from the power supply or the computer/

digital photo frame.

Problem: The scanner does not respond to any operations.
Solution: An internal error may have occurred. Insert a suitable

object (like an extended paper clip) into the Off button

hole on the bottom of the scanner to turn the scanner off.

Turn on the scanner and then try again.

Problem: The scanner’s startup (initialization) time becomes

long.

Solution: Try the following:

• If you have formatted the memory card (if used) to the

FAT32 file system, it is recommended that you re-format

it to the FAT16 file system for the scanner to work faster.

Note that re-formatting will erase all data in the memory.

• If a memory card is used, the read/write speed of the card

will also affect the startup time. Use a card with a faster

read/write speed whenever possible.
