16.0 USAGE AND LIMITATIONS
GreenGuard® Building Wraps are intended to perform as water-resistive barriers
and air barriers in commercial construction applications when installed in
accordance with this Guide. The following conditions apply to the use of
GreenGuard® Building Wraps:
• GreenGuard® Building Wraps are high performance air barrier and
water-resistive barrier products that help deflect water and wind-
driven rain, while also allowing trapped moisture vapor to escape,
thus allowing walls to dry faster. The building wraps are made from
synthetic materials that are generally recognized as not providing a
food source for insects, fungus, mold, or mildew.
• GreenGuard® Building Wraps installed with the print side facing
outward may be exposed for up to 9 months.
• When stored outdoors, building wraps should be protected from
exposure to direct sunlight using the original packaging or an
opaque, light-colored tarp. Material that has been unwrapped
should be covered or rewrapped.
• GreenGuard® Building Wraps should not be used as a vapor retarder.
• GreenGuard® Building Wraps should not be used as roofing paper.
WARNING: GreenGuard® Building Wraps will ignite if exposed to fire
of sufficient heat and intensity. Protect building wraps from exposure to open
flame or other ignition sources during shipping, storage and installation.
17.0 RECOMMENDED ADHESIVES/SEALANTS AND PRIMERS
Many common adhesives, sealants and primers are compatible with GreenGuard®
Building Wraps and GreenGuard® Flashing Products. Common types include, but
are not limited to polyurethanes, silicones, butyls and latexes. Prior to beginning
a project, the installer should obtain chemical compatibility information from the
manufacturer of the adhesive, sealant or primer. For more information regarding
