The printer automatically closes
the print head after 2.5 minutes.
A signal sounds 30 s before it au-
tomatically closes and a count-
down appears on the display. To
prevent damage to the print head,
do not insert the replacement
plate now; instead, wait until the
print head is closed and repeat
the process.
The replacement plate has to
be changed every time a new
ink cartridge is inserted. A new
replacement plate is included
in the cartridge kit (Order No.:
14 0601 43506).
• Open the printer lid.
• Press CLEAN and LOADED simultaneously
to open the print head.
• Push the lever (69, Fig. 8 ) up, remove the
replacement plate and dispose of it.

After inserting a new cartridge:
• Press LOADED – the printer sets the ink
level back to zero.
After inserting a used cartridge:
• Press ERROR – the printer resumes
measuring at the ink level where it previ-
ously left off.

Never press the CLEAN button
while a new or used ink car-
tridge is in the instrument!
Changing the replacement plate
→
• The "Ink Empty" LED goes out when you in-
sert a cartridge, "88" appears in the display.
• Clean the print head ( see Cleaning the
print head ), remove the yellow transport
anchor (71, Fig. 6 ) of the replacement plate
(70, Fig. 6 ), insert a new replacement plate
and press the lever down into its original
position.
• Press any control panel key to confirm that
the replacement procedure is finished.
• The print head moves back to the park
position.
• Close the printer hood.
