286.20 Pressure Intensifier Introduction 17
4 Pressure transducer Provides a signal which represents the level of confining
fluid pressure being applied to the triaxial cell. The
signal is used by the electronic controller equipment as
feedback when pressure is the controlled variable.
5 Pressure relief valve Relieves pressure in the system if pressure exceeds the
CPI’s pressure rating by a certain amount.
6 Pressure intensifier Actuator which uses servovalve controlled hydraulic
fluid to pressurize the confining fluid. The top end,
identified as “6A,” is the high pressure, confining fluid
part of the actuator. The lower part, “6B,” is the low
pressure, hydraulic end.
7 Hydraulic service manifold Provides an interface between the external hydraulic
power supply and the pressure intensifier. Provides
mounting for various hydraulic components such as
accumulators and the servovalve.
8 Servovalve Controls flow and pressure of hydraulic fluid applied to
the input side of the pressure intensifier.
9 Linear transducer Provides a signal to the test controller.
