If you are installing a floppy drive, insert the data cable into the cable release tab on the floppy drive and press down on the tab until it clicks to lock it in
place.

If you are installing a Media Card Reader, insert the cable into the connector on the Media Card Reader.

 

4.

If you are installing a floppy drive, insert the data cable into the cable release tab on the system board and press down on the tab until it clicks to lock it
in place.

If you are installing a Media Card Reader, connect the cable to the system board connector labeled "USB."

 

5.

Check all cable connections, and fold cables out of the way to provide airflow for the fan and cooling vents.

 

6.

Replace the optical drive (see

Optical Drive

).


 

7.

Replace the computer cover (see

).


 

9.

Enter and use the Diskette Drive option to enable your new floppy drive.

See the documentation that came with the drive for instructions on installing any software required for drive operation.

 

10.

Verify that your computer works correctly by running the Dell Diagnostics (see

Dell Diagnostics

).
