Back-Panel Indicators

Indicators are on the system's back panel for the power supply (see

Figure 2

-2

) and the integrated NICs (see

Figure 2

).

System Messages

System messages alert you to a possible hardware problem during system boot.

To view system messages, perform the following steps:

Steady green indicates that the system is receiving
power from a power source and the system is
turned on.

Blinking green indicates that the system is receiving
power, but the system is not turned on.

l

Steady amber indicates the power supply has either shut down because
temperatures or voltages are outside threshold limits, or the power supply
has failed.

l

Off indicates that the system is not receiving power from a power source or
the power supply has failed.

NIC activity Flashing green indicates network data is being sent or

received.

When the NIC indicator is off at the same time the link indicator is off, the NIC is
not connected to the network.

NIC link

Steady amber indicates that the NIC is connected to a
valid link partner on the network.

When the NIC indicator is off at the same time the activity indicator is off, the NIC is
not connected to the network.
