Overview
This document lists the minimum driver and firmware requirements for the components of the Dell
PowerEdge VRTX storage subsystem. It is recommended that you download the latest drivers and
firmware from dell.com/support.

Components of the Storage Subsystem
The storage subsystem of the PowerEdge VRTX enclosure comprises the following components:
• Shared PowerEdge RAID Controller (PERC) 8
• Shared PERC8 operating system drivers
• Chassis Management Controller (CMC) firmware
• Chassis infrastructure firmware
• SAS expander firmware
Minimum Version Requirement Baselines
There are currently three minimum version requirement baselines for the PowerEdge VRTX storage
subsystem. The baselines are identified by the introduction of storage subsystem redundancy in the VRTX
enclosure.
Baseline Description
Baseline v3 (Fault Tolerant
Shared PERC8 with Write-
Through and Write-Back
Caching) Defines the minimum version baseline requirements for the PowerEdge
VRTX storage subsystem that is associated with the introduction of Write-
Back Cache support in a fault tolerant (dual controller) Shared PERC8
configuration.
This baseline provides:
• support for both single- and dual Shared PERC8 configurations.
• improvements for both single- and dual Shared PERC8 configurations
over the previous baseline.
NOTE: The solution supports write-back caching in both single- and
fault-tolerant configurations.
