Baseline

Description

NOTE: It is strongly recommended that you upgrade to this baseline.

Baseline v2 (Fault Tolerant
Shared PERC8 with Write-
Through Caching Only)

Defines the minimum version baseline requirements for the PowerEdge
VRTX storage subsystem that is associated with the introduction of fault
tolerant (dual controller) Shared PERC8 configuration.
This baseline provides:
• support for both single- and dual Shared PERC8 configurations
• improvements for both single- and dual Shared PERC8 configurations

NOTE: Write back caching is only supported in single Shared PERC8
configuration. Write- back caching is not supported in fault tolerant
Shared PERC8 configuration.

NOTE: The baseline v2 does not have backward compatibility with later
baselines (Baseline v3) and will not have future updates.

Baseline v1 (Legacy Single
Shared PERC8
Configuration)

Defines the minimum version baseline requirements for the PowerEdge
VRTX storage subsystem that supports single Shared PERC8.
This baseline provides support for single Shared PERC8 configuration.

NOTE: Storage subsystem redundancy (dual shared PERC8) is not

supported with this baseline.
NOTE: This baseline does not have backward compatibility with later

baselines (baselines v2 and v3) and will not have future updates.

Baseline Threshold Requirements

The following minimum version requirement baseline conditions apply to the PowerEdge VRTX storage
subsystem:

• The storage subsystem is compliant only with one of the three baseline requirements. When any

component of the subsystem is compliant with the minimum version requirements defined in one
baseline, all components must also be made compliant with the same baseline.

• Some operating system environments are not supported with baseline v1.
• Downgrading the storage subsystem from one baseline to an earlier baseline is not supported.
• It is strongly recommended that you update the storage subsystem to the latest baseline (baseline v3),

driver, and firmware images available at dell.com/support.
