Displaying Caption

Vision/XDS

(CAPTION VISION)

Some programs are broadcast with Caption Vision. To
display Caption Vision, select either CCl, CC2, CCS,
CC4, TEXTl, TEXT2, TEXTS or TEXT4 from the menu.
CCl,

CCl,

CCS or CC4 shows you a caption, that is a

printed version of the dialog or sound effects of a
program. (The mode should be set to CCl for most
programs.) TEXTl, TEXT2, TEXTS or TEXT4 shows you

text, that is information presented using either half or
the whole screen. It is not usually related to the
program.

Some programs are broadcast with XDS (Extended
Data Service) which shows a network name, program

name, program length, call letters and time of the
show. When you select XDS with the DISPLAY button,
this information will be displayed on the screen if the

broadcaster offers this service.

Press the joystick up or down to select

and click the Joystick.

Press the joystick up or down to select the

caption type and click the joystick.

The selected caption type is colored green.

Use (f) RETURN0Exits

To turn off the caption, text or XDS

Press DISPLAY on the remote commander until
"DISPLAY OFF" appears on the screen. Each time you
press DISPLAY, the display changes as follows:

XDS —► Caption Vision or Text

"DISPLAY OFF" goes off after three seconds.

Notes

• Poor reception of TV programs can cause errors in Caption

Vision and XDS.
Captions may appear with a white box or other errors instead

of a certain word.

• Caption Vision and the channel display cannot be used at the

same time.
