SDHC card choices
The
POV.HD
captures
high
quality
HD
video
and
is
capable
of
recording
at
a
high
bit
rate.
Because
of
this
VIO
recommends
minimum
SDHC
card
classes
for
use
in
the
POV.HD.
The
class
of
an
SDHC
card
should
be
printed
on
the
card
label,
and
should
be
on
the
SDHC
card’s
packaging
or
catalog
description.
The
SDHC
card
class
is
normally
displayed
like
this:
• For recording video at Image Quality levels up to High (12 Mbits/sec), use Class 6 or higher SDHC
cards.
• For recording video at Image Quality levels up to Very High (16 Mbits/sec) use Class 10 or higher SDHC
cards.
The
POV.HD
has
been
tested
with
SDHC
cards
from
SanDisk
and
Lexar.
Other
brands
with
the
appropriate
class
level
should
work
as
well,
but
have
not
been
verified
by
VIO
in
this
devlice.
Battery Choices
The POV.HD uses 4 AA batteries. Three types of batteries are suitable for use in the POV.HD.
•
Standard
alkaline
disposable
AA
batteries
•
NiMH
rechargeable
AA
batteries
•
Lithium
disposable
AA
batteries
Each
type
of
battery
has
advantages
and
disadvantages
when
used
in
the
POV.HD.
The
best
choice
for
you
depends
on
how
you
use
your
camera,
and
you
may
find
that
you
may
want
to
use
different
batteries
in
differing
situations.
Standard Alkaline Batteries
Standard
alkaline
AA
batteries
are
widely
available
and
relatively
inexpensive.
However,
if
you
do
a
lot
of
shooting,
the
cost
of
disposable
batteries
can
add
up
and
all
batteries
require
special
handling
for
proper
disposal.
The
long
shelf
life
makes
standard
batteries
a
good
choice
for
that
extra
set
stowed
in
the
bottom
of
your
bag
for
emergency
use
“some
day”.
NiMH Rechargeable Batteries
Even
though
they
cost
more
to
purchase,
rechargeable
batteries
are
overall
much
more
cost
effective
than
standard
batteries,
and
using
rechareables
significantly
reduces
the
number
of
batteries
headed
for
the
land
fill—or
hopefully
recycling.
Rechargeable
batteries
do
have
some
disadvantages
though.
Even
when
brand
new,
rechargeable
batteries
will
give
you
slightly
less
recording
time
than
standard
batteries.
Rechargeable
batteries
also
lose
their
charge
when
left
to
sit
for
any
length
of
time
so
ideally
they
need
to
be
recharged
right
before
you
head
out.
And
you
do
need
to
remember
to
recharge
them.
You
cannot
recharge
batteries
while
they’re
in
the
POV.HD.
Remember
that
set
of
standard
batteries
in
the
bottom
of
your
bag
for
emergencies?
Lithium Batteries
Lithium
batteries
have
one
enormous
advantage
over
the
other
types
of
batteries.
They
give
you
up
to
5
hours
of
continuous
recording
time.
If
you
want
to
record
for
more
than
2
½
hours
and
you
won’t
have
a
chance
to
swap
out
the
batteries,
lithium
batteries
are
your
only
choice.
