Installing AV8OR 3D in the Aircraft
AV8OR 3D accommodates the needs of both
aircraft owners and renters. Owners can save
preflight time by leaving the INU, antenna, and
power supply installed in the aircraft. Renters
can easily move the whole portable system to
any aircraft they choose.
Note: AV8OR 3D is optimized to operate in an
aircraft. AV8OR 3D may not display correct
attitude and GPS position in a non-aircraft
environment, such as a car.
Mounting the Samsung Tablet PC
Choose a location in the cockpit to install the Samsung
Tablet PC and Mount Assembly. The
mount can be clamped onto the yoke or
attached to the windshield by the suction cup.
Avoid direct sunlight for screen visibility and
temperature reasons.

Note: Be careful to get a good clean suction seal.
Due to pressure changes, suction cups may lose
some effect and need resealing at cruise altitude.
Note: The location of the Samsung Tablet PC must
not obstruct any aircraft controls, flight-critical
instruments, or the pilot’s view outside of the
aircraft.
Mounting the AV8OR 3D GPS and XM
Antennas
All GPS and XM satellite antennas require an
unobstructed view of the sky. Metallic
obstructions, including heated windshields, can
block satellite reception. Radio interference in
the cockpit also degrades satellite reception. The
FAA has noted that some older aircraft radios
can cause GPS reception issues.
In most cases, locating the AV8OR 3D antennas or
DUO antenna on the aircraft glare shield
provides good reception. Keep the antenna 12
inches or more from the Samsung, and 8 inches or
more from the magnetic compass.
If the internal reception is not adequate,
AV8OR 3D has been designed to work with
external antennas. Contact an avionics shop for
details concerning external GPS or XM antenna
installation.
Warning: AV8OR 3D is not to be used as a primary navigation reference. It is designed to be an aid to situational awareness and to
provide a backup reference in case of electrical or primary instrument failure.
