Possible cause

Blood pressure is

abnormally high or

low.

• The posture of the person is different each time

measurements are carried out.

different from those
taken by a doctor.

• The person is slightly tense when with

the healthcare professional, causing the

measurements to be different.

• Relax for ten minutes and then carry out the

measurement again.

Measurements are

different from those
obtained using an

upper arm type blood
pressure meter.

• There may be major differences in blood

pressure recorded at the wrist and on the
upper arm for people with peripheral circulatory
problems.

Varying sounds and

pressurization speeds

occur during inflation
of the cuff.

• Changes in operating sounds and

pressurization speeds are normal and occur

due to the fact that measurements are being

made as the cuff is being inflated.

The LiMWH mark
flashes when readings
are being taken.

• There was a significant fluctuation in pulse

when readings were being taken.

• In some cases this will be displayed when you

have tensed the muscles in your hand. Relax

the muscles in your hand and take the reading
