The basic system consits of the
measuring unit, the protective hol-
der including a gloss standard, and
a holder including a haze standard
(fig. 2).
The protective holder is used to
calibrate the measuring unit. The
glass standard required for this
purpose is fixed in the holder,
making it scratch-resistant and
shatterproof and it is positioned
such that calibration is always
performed at the same point.
When the measuring instrument is
not in use, please store it in the
protective holder. Thus the
measuring optics are protected
against dirt.
In the protective holder, the
measuring unit is always ready for
use and permits a fast calibration
before every use.
The most convenient way of using
the measuring unit is with the
middle finger resting on the
operate button (fig. 1). The button
does not react unless pressed
firmly, so that unintentional
triggering is avoided.
The measuring unit is operated by
means of two buttons: mode and
operate. The mode button switches
the device on and the desired
measuring mode can be selected:

SAMPLE MODE
Single measurements without
storing the results.
STATISTIC MODE
Series of measurements with
storage and calculation of average
and standard deviation.
The measurements are activated
by pressing the operate button.
The read measurement indicators
on the side light up during the
measurement operation. Operation
is supported by a self-diagnostic
test, comments and error
messages. The measured values
and comments are shown in the
alphanumeric display.
